Both Georgia and Tennessee have undergone major transformation where CS education is not just an elective, but a comprehensive K-12 discipline. Our needs have shifted to where we are surrounded by a digital presence that has forced our education system to also evolve. Students need to graduate with all the tools necessary to thrive in society and these tools must include a computer science education.

CS education encompasses ideas such as digital literacy, digital compentency, and computational thinking. This skill set will empower our students to solve many of our societal challenges and participate effectively in this digital age. CSTA offers a place for educators and stakeholders to take active part in promoting, learning about, and expanding CS education in all K-12 programs.
This CSTA chapter recognizes that a wide variety of stakeholders are necessary to facilitate the task of supporting educators with the training and resources that are needed. CS is one of the fastest growing industries, and computer programmers are needed within every field, including healthcare, engineering, manufacturing, and information technology. Although not every student will enter a STEM and/or STEAM field, all students will benefit from learning computer science concepts and practices.
